Hi, I’m Kalie Work.
I am honored to serve as your Washoe County Recorder, where I work every day to protect property ownership records and ensure residents, businesses, and families have secure, reliable access to essential public services. This office plays a vital role in safeguarding one of our community’s most important assets: property ownership. I am committed to ensuring it operates with efficiency, integrity, and transparency.
Since taking office, I have focused on modernizing the Recorder’s Office by expanding online services, improving efficiency, and increasing access to public records. By digitizing more than 10 million historical records and achieving a 90% adoption rate of online recording, we have made services faster, more accessible, and more secure. I believe government should work effectively, responsibly, and in service to the people it represents.
As a proud Nevada native, I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, and later earned my master’s degree in Business Management from Harvard University, where I focused on innovation, leadership, and sustainable systems. Before entering public service, I worked at Microsoft, leading teams responsible for operations and licensing compliance. That experience shaped my approach to leadership and strengthened my commitment to using technology and thoughtful innovation to improve public service.
I am honored to contribute to public service beyond Washoe County. I am the past President of the Nevada Recorder’s Association, working with recorders across the state to strengthen and modernize property record systems. I have also been appointed twice—by Governor Steve Sisolak and Governor Joe Lombardo—to serve on the Nevada State Historical Records Advisory Board, reflecting bipartisan confidence in my leadership and commitment to preserving and protecting Nevada’s public records. Most recently, I was appointed by the Nevada Legislature to serve on the Public Records Task Force, where I am working alongside state leaders to develop recommendations that will help modernize and strengthen Nevada’s public records laws for the future.
Washoe County is not just where I work. It is also my home. My husband Mathew and I are raising our daughter here, and we care deeply about the future of our community. I am proud to serve the residents of Washoe County and remain committed to ensuring local government operates with professionalism, accountability, and trust.
